All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all worlds; the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful; Master of the Day of Judgement. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path: the path of those whom You have favoured, not of those who have incurred anger, nor of those who have gone astray.

MeaningAllah: there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth. Who can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what lies before them and what lies behind them, while they grasp nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth, and preserving them does not weary Him. He is the Most High, the Magnificent.

MeaningThe Messenger believes in what was sent down to him from his Lord, and so do the believers. Each believes in Allah, His angels, His Books and His messengers. “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” They say, “We hear and obey. Grant us Your forgiveness, our Lord; to You is the return.” Allah does not burden any soul beyond its capacity. It receives the good it has earned and bears responsibility for the wrong it has done. “Our Lord, do not take us to task if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord, do not place upon us a burden like that which You placed on those before us. Our Lord, do not burden us with what we cannot bear. Pardon us, forgive us and have mercy on us. You are our Protector, so grant us help against those who reject faith.”
