Alawi bin Abdullah al-Aydarus was a Ba Alawi scholar and teacher from Tarim. Al-Mashra al-Rawi records that he memorised the Quran and studied religious and spiritual disciplines with teachers including Alawi bin Muhammad Bafaraj, Abdullah bin Salim and Zayn bin Husayn. He also studied with his father.
Alawi later withdrew for a period of seclusion in Wadi Thabi. The biography says that people sought him there and that he eventually returned from seclusion to public teaching. Students benefited from him in hadith, jurisprudence and tasawwuf. Among those named are Ahmad bin Umar bin Falah, Amr bin Salim bin Zayn Bafadl, Abdullah Bafadl and Husayn Bafadl.
Karamat and spiritual states
Al-Mashra al-Rawi says that during Alawi’s period of intense worship and seclusion, spiritual unveilings, karamat and extraordinary occurrences were repeatedly attributed to him. The section does not enumerate individual incidents, so the biography preserves the attribution without expanding it beyond what the source states.
Alawi died in 1055 AH and was buried in Zanbal Cemetery.

Primary source: Al-Mashra al-Rawi fi Manaqib al-Sada al-Kiram Al Abi Alawi, volume 2, biography of Alawi bin Abdullah al-Aydarus. It records his teachers, period of seclusion, attributed spiritual unveilings and karamat, students, teaching activity, death in 1055 AH and burial at Zanbal. A later historical compilation independently preserves the same identity and death year.
