Ahmad bin Abdullah bin Ahmad al-Aydarus was a Ba Alawi scholar from Tarim whose career later extended into India. Al-Mashra al-Rawi records that he memorised the Quran with Abdullah bin Umar Bagharib, studied hadith, jurisprudence and tasawwuf with his father, and continued his education with scholars including Abu Bakr bin Abd al-Rahman bin Shihab al-Din. He also kept company with Zayn bin Muhammad Ba Hasan and Muhammad bin Ahmad al-Shatiri.
Ahmad later travelled through western India and the Deccan. The source describes a period with his maternal uncle Ja’far al-Sadiq in Ahmadabad before Ahmad moved deeper into the Deccan, where he taught and became known for learning in hadith, jurisprudence, Arabic and literature. A later Indian biographical compilation preserves the same identity and scholarly trajectory and records that he died in Hyderabad in 1073 AH, where he was buried near the Quwwat al-Islam mosque.
Among Ahmad’s documented teachers was Abu Bakr bin Abd al-Rahman bin Shihab al-Din, whose own BaAlawi biography is already preserved on the site.
