Today

Preservation with a long horizon

People, family history, places, media and learning

The responsibility we carry

Heritage deserves more than a moment online.

Websites come and go. Sources disappear. Family memory can become harder to trace with every generation. BaAlawi.com was created with a longer horizon: gather carefully, preserve what can be preserved, make provenance visible, and leave something stronger for those who come after us.

Our ambition is to become a foremost trusted torchbearer of Ba’Alawi heritage and knowledge for future generations.

Trust cannot be declared. It has to be earned, record by record, source by source, correction by correction.

What trust means here

Reliability is a practice, not a badge.

01

Source before certainty

Historical sources, family memory, community tradition, institutional records and reviewed research are different kinds of evidence. We aim to show those distinctions rather than flatten them into one confident claim.

02

Uncertainty stays visible

Incomplete, disputed or developing records should remain visibly incomplete, disputed or developing. Preservation is not improved by pretending uncertainty does not exist.

03

Corrections strengthen the archive

A trustworthy archive must be correctable. Sources, corrections and respectful challenges are part of the work, not an inconvenience to it. Nothing submitted by the community is published automatically.

04

Heritage without hierarchy

Lineage is a subject of history and identity. It is not proof of spiritual worth, religious authority or superiority. Publication is not genealogical certification or theological endorsement.

A long view

From an early web archive to a preservation platform.

2007

A domain for the long term

baalawi.com was registered on 24 September 2007, establishing the digital home that still carries the project today.

2008

Visible on the early web

The earliest known successful Internet Archive capture is dated 31 January 2008. It provides an independent historical marker for BaAlawi.com’s presence online.

Now & next

Preserve, connect, teach

Today the work spans biographies, family history, places, historical media, learning and community contributions, while new preservation tools are built with the same long-term stewardship in mind.

The dates above are evidence markers for the domain and known archived web presence. They are not presented as proof of uninterrupted service across every year.

Founded around Ba’Alawi heritage. Open to the wider Muslim story.

A wider welcome, without losing the thread.

BaAlawi.com brings together biographies, family histories, places, migrations and learning materials while respecting the different communities, cultures and schools of thought that may encounter them. Visitors are not asked to accept one cultural, theological or genealogical position in order to learn or contribute.
