حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ، قَالَ : بَلَغَنِي , أَنَّ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيَّ كَانَ نَائِمًا , فَهَتَفَ بِهِ هَاتِفٌ : " أَخْبِرِ النَّاسَ : أَنَّ النُّفُوسَ رَهَائِنٌ بِكُسُوبِهَا فَاعْمَلْ فَإِنَّ فِكَاكَهُنَّ الدَّأْبُ " .
