: كَيْفَ كَانَتْ إِمَارَةُ الأَحْلافِ فِيكُمْ , يَعْنِي إِمَارَةَ عُمَرَ , قَالَ : " الَّتِي قَبْلَهَا خَيْرٌ مِنْهَا , أَوَ سُنَّةُ عُمَرُ تُرِيدُ أَنْتَ وَصَاحِبُكَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ ؟ ! تَرَكْتُمَا وَاللَّهِ سُنَّةَ عُمَرَ شَأْوًا مُغَرِّبًا " .
