وَأَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو نَصْرٍ ، عَنِ الأَصْمَعِيِّ : " النِّهْيُ : الْغَدِيرُ ، وَالْجَمِيعُ أَنْهَاءٌ ، وَالتَّنْهِيَةُ : مَحْبِسُ الْمَاءِ ، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ السَّيْلَ يَنْتَهِي إِلَيْهِ ، فَيَحْبِسُهُ فَيَحْتَبِسُ " .
