أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا فِي شَأْنِ عُثْمَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَتْ : " عَمَدْتُمْ إِلَيْهِ فَاسْتَتَبْتُمُوهُ حَتَّى إِذَا تَرَكْتُمُوهُ كَالثَّوْبِ الرَّخِيصِ قَدَّمْتُمُوهُ فذَبَحْتُمُوهُ ذَبْحَ الشَّاةِ ، هَلا كَانَ هَذَا قَبْلَ هَذَا " .
