، أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَوْمَ صِفِّينَ ، وَكَانَ مَعَ عَلِيٍّ : " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَجْمِعُوا رَأْيَكُمْ ، فَوَاللَّهِ مَا وَضَعْنَا سُيُوفَنَا عَلَى عَوَاتِقِنَا إِلا أَسْهَلَ بِنَا إِلَى أَمْرٍ نَعْرِفُهُ غَيْرَ أَمْرِكُمْ هَذَا ، فَاتَّهِمُوا رَأْيَكُمْ " ، وَغَمَدَ سَيْفَهُ ، وَانْصَرَفَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ .
