رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ " إِنَّمَا رَجَعَ بِالنَّاسِ عَنْ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ ، يَعْنِي حِينَ خَرَجَ إِلَى الشَّامِ فَبَلَغَهُ وُقُوعُ الطَّاعُونِ بِهَا " .
