حِينَ سَارَ الْمِصْرِيُّونَ إِلَى عُثْمَانَ ، فَقُلْنَا : إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ قَدْ سَارُوا إِلَى هَذَا الرَّجُلِ فَمَا تَقُولُ ؟ قَالَ : " يَقْتُلُونَهُ وَاللَّهِ " ، قَالَ : قُلْنَا : أَيْنَ هُوَ ؟ قَالَ : " فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَاللَّهِ " , قَالَ : قُلْنَا : فَأَيْنَ قَتَلَتُهُ ؟ قَالَ : " فِي النَّارِ وَاللَّهِ " .
