بَعْدَ مَا طُعِنَ وَقَدْ أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْهِ , فَقُلْنَا : لَا يَنْتَبِهُ لِشَيْءٍ أَفْرَغَ لَهُ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ , فَقُلْنَا : الصَّلَاةَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ , فَانْتَبَهَ وَقَالَ : " وَلَا حَظَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ لِامْرِئٍ تَرَكَ الصَّلَاةَ " . فَصَلَّى وَجُرْحُهُ لَيَثْعَبُ دَمًا " .
