رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ فِيهَا : " زَوْجُهَا الأَوَّلُ بِالْخِيَارِ : إِنْ شَاءَ أَخَذَ مَهْرَهَا وَتَرَكَهَا عِنْدَ هَذَا ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ أَخَذَ امْرَأَتَهُ " ، وَقَالَ حَمَّادٌ : قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ : قَوْلُ عَلِيٍّ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ قَوْلِ عُمَرَ .
