بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ دِرْهَمٍ ، صَدَقَةَ الْخَمْرِ ، فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ عُمَرُ : " بَعَثْتَ إِلَيَّ بِصَدَقَةِ الْخَمْرِ ، وَأَنْتَ أَحَقُّ بِهَا مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ , وَأَخْبَرَ بِذَلِكَ النَّاسَ ، فَقَالَ : وَاللَّهِ لا اسْتَعْمَلْتُكَ عَلَى شَيْءٍ بَعْدَهَا ، قَالَ : فَتَرَكَهُ " .
