Surah 77 · 50 ayat

Al-Mursalaat

The Emissaries

المرسلات

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

77:1

وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ عُرْفًا

MeaningBy the emissary winds, (sent) one after another

77:2

فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ عَصْفًا

MeaningBy the raging hurricanes,

77:3

وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًا

MeaningBy those which cause earth's vegetation to revive;

77:4

فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ فَرْقًا

MeaningBy those who winnow with a winnowing,

77:5

فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا

MeaningBy those who bring down the Reminder,

77:6

عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا

MeaningTo excuse or to warn,

77:7

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌ

MeaningSurely that which ye are promised will befall.

77:8

فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ

MeaningSo when the stars are put out,

77:9

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ

MeaningAnd when the sky is riven asunder,

77:10

وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ

MeaningAnd when the mountains are blown away,

77:11

وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ

MeaningAnd when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed –

77:12

لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ

MeaningFor what day is the time appointed?

77:13

لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ

MeaningFor the Day of Decision.

77:14

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ

MeaningAnd what will convey unto thee what the Day of Decision is! –

77:15

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

MeaningWoe unto the repudiators on that day!

77:16

أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

MeaningDestroyed We not the former folk,

77:17

ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ

MeaningThen caused the latter folk to follow after?

77:18

كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ

MeaningThus deal We ever with the guilty.

77:19

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

MeaningWoe unto the repudiators on that day!

77:20

أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ

MeaningDid We not create you from a base fluid

77:21

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ

MeaningWhich We laid up in a safe abode

77:22

إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ

MeaningFor a known term?

77:23

فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَـٰدِرُونَ

MeaningThus We arranged. How excellent is Our arranging!

77:24

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

MeaningWoe unto the repudiators on that day!

77:25

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا

MeaningHave We not made the earth a receptacle

77:26

أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوَٰتًا

MeaningBoth for the living and the dead,

77:27

وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَـٰمِخَـٰتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتًا

MeaningAnd placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein?

77:28

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

MeaningWoe unto the repudiators on that day!

77:29

ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ

Meaning(It will be said unto them:) Depart unto that (doom) which ye used to deny;

77:30

ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِى ثَلَـٰثِ شُعَبٍ

MeaningDepart unto the shadow falling threefold,

77:31

لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ

Meaning(Which yet is) no relief nor shelter from the flame.

77:32

إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍ كَٱلْقَصْرِ

MeaningLo! it throweth up sparks like the castles,

77:33

كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَـٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌ

Meaning(Or) as it might be camels of bright yellow hue.

77:34

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

MeaningWoe unto the repudiators on that day!

77:35

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ

MeaningThis is a day wherein they speak not,

77:36

وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ

MeaningNor are they suffered to put forth excuses.

77:37

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

MeaningWoe unto the repudiators on that day!

77:38

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَـٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

MeaningThis is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together.

77:39

فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ

MeaningIf now ye have any wit, outwit Me.

77:40

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

MeaningWoe unto the repudiators on that day!

77:41

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ

MeaningLo! those who kept their duty are amid shade and fountains,

77:42

وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ

MeaningAnd fruits such as they desire.

77:43

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Meaning(Unto them it is said:) Eat, drink and welcome, O ye blessed, in return for what ye did.

77:44

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

MeaningThus do We reward the good.

77:45

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

MeaningWoe unto the repudiators on that day!

77:46

كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ

MeaningEat and take your ease (on earth) a little. Lo! ye are guilty.

77:47

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

MeaningWoe unto the repudiators on that day!

77:48

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ

MeaningWhen it is said unto them: Bow down, they bow not down!

77:49

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

MeaningWoe unto the repudiators on that day!

77:50

فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ

MeaningIn what statement, after this, will they believe?
