Surah 79 · 46 ayat

An-Naazi'aat

Those who drag forth

النازعات

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

79:1

وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ غَرْقًا

MeaningBy those who drag forth to destruction,

79:2

وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ نَشْطًا

MeaningBy the meteors rushing,

79:3

وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ سَبْحًا

MeaningBy the lone stars floating,

79:4

فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِ سَبْقًا

MeaningBy the angels hastening,

79:5

فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمْرًا

MeaningAnd those who govern the event,

79:6

يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ

MeaningOn the day when the first trump resoundeth.

79:7

تَتْبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ

MeaningAnd the second followeth it,

79:8

قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ

MeaningOn that day hearts beat painfully

79:9

أَبْصَـٰرُهَا خَـٰشِعَةٌ

MeaningWhile eyes are downcast

79:10

يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِى ٱلْحَافِرَةِ

Meaning(Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state

79:11

أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَـٰمًا نَّخِرَةً

MeaningEven after we are crumbled bones?

79:12

قَالُوا۟ تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ

MeaningThey say: Then that would be a vain proceeding.

79:13

فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ

MeaningSurely it will need but one shout,

79:14

فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ

MeaningAnd lo! they will be awakened.

79:15

هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ

MeaningHath there come unto thee the history of Moses?

79:16

إِذْ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى

MeaningHow his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa,

79:17

ٱذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ

Meaning(Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh – Lo! he hath rebelled –

79:18

فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ

MeaningAnd say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)?

79:19

وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ

MeaningThen I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him).

79:20

فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلْـَٔايَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ

MeaningAnd he showed him the tremendous token.

79:21

فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ

MeaningBut he denied and disobeyed,

79:22

ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ

MeaningThen turned he away in haste,

79:23

فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ

MeaningThen gathered he and summoned

79:24

فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ

MeaningAnd proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest."

79:25

فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَٱلْأُولَىٰٓ

MeaningSo Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former.

79:26

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰٓ

MeaningLo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth.

79:27

ءَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ ۚ بَنَىٰهَا

MeaningAre ye the harder to create, or is the heaven that He built?

79:28

رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا

MeaningHe raised the height thereof and ordered it;

79:29

وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا

MeaningAnd He made dark the night thereof, and He brought forth the morn thereof.

79:30

وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ

MeaningAnd after that He spread the earth,

79:31

أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرْعَىٰهَا

MeaningAnd produced therefrom the water thereof and the pasture thereof,

79:32

وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَرْسَىٰهَا

MeaningAnd He made fast the hills,

79:33

مَتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ

MeaningA provision for you and for your cattle.

79:34

فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ

MeaningBut when the great disaster cometh,

79:35

يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ

MeaningThe day when man will call to mind his (whole) endeavour,

79:36

وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ

MeaningAnd hell will stand forth visible to him who seeth,

79:37

فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ

MeaningThen, as for him who rebelled

79:38

وَءَاثَرَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا

MeaningAnd chose the life of the world,

79:39

فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ

MeaningLo! hell will be his home.

79:40

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفْسَ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ

MeaningBut as for him who feared to stand before his Lord and restrained his soul from lust,

79:41

فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَنَّةَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ

MeaningLo! the Garden will be his home.

79:42

يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَىٰهَا

MeaningThey ask thee of the Hour: when will it come to port?

79:43

فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَىٰهَآ

MeaningWhy (ask they)? What hast thou to tell thereof?

79:44

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ

MeaningUnto thy Lord belongeth (knowledge of) the term thereof.

79:45

إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰهَا

MeaningThou art but a warner unto him who feareth it.

79:46

كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَىٰهَا

MeaningOn the day when they behold it, it will be as if they had but tarried for an evening or the morn thereof.
