Ahmad bin Husayn bin Abdullah al-Aydarus was a Ba Alawi scholar and religious teacher associated with Tarim in Hadramawt. Al-Mashra al-Rawi records that he was born in Tarim, studied with his father and his uncle Shaykh bin Abdullah, and learned from scholars including Muhammad bin Umar Bahraq, Umar bin Abdullah Ba Shayban, Maruf Bamal and Umar bin Abdullah Bakhrama. The source describes his studies as spanning jurisprudence, hadith and tasawwuf and records that many people studied with him.
The biography also attributes several writings to Ahmad al-Aydarus, including material on devotional ethics and the qualities of the Prophet, while noting that the compiler did not have access to copies of all of them. It presents him as active in teaching, assisting students and maintaining relationships with scholars and communities around Tarim.
Ahmad bin Husayn al-Aydarus died in Tarim in 968 AH (1560 CE) and was buried in Zanbal Cemetery. An independent biographical record drawing on Al-Nur al-Safir likewise identifies him as Ahmad bin Husayn bin Abdullah al-Aydarus of Tarim and gives his death as 968 AH. Accounts of extraordinary events found in traditional manaqib literature are treated as devotional tradition rather than as independently established historical events.
