خَطَبَ عَلَى أَخِيهِ إِلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتٍ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ ، فَقَالَ : " أَنَا بِلالٌ وَهَذَا أَخِي ، كُنَّا عَبْدَيْنِ فَأَعْتَقَنَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، وَكُنَّا ضَالَّيْنِ فَهَدَانَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .
