Surah 55 · 78 ayat

Ar-Rahmaan

The Beneficent

الرحمن

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

55:1

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ

MeaningThe Beneficent

55:2

عَلَّمَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ

MeaningHath made known the Qur'an.

55:3

خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ

MeaningHe hath created man.

55:4

عَلَّمَهُ ٱلْبَيَانَ

MeaningHe hath taught him utterance.

55:5

ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ

MeaningThe sun and the moon are made punctual.

55:6

وَٱلنَّجْمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ

MeaningThe stars and the trees prostrate.

55:7

وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلْمِيزَانَ

MeaningAnd the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure,

55:8

أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْمِيزَانِ

MeaningThat ye exceed not the measure,

55:9

وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلْوَزْنَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا۟ ٱلْمِيزَانَ

MeaningBut observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof.

55:10

وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ

MeaningAnd the earth hath He appointed for (His) creatures,

55:11

فِيهَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَٱلنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ ٱلْأَكْمَامِ

MeaningWherein are fruit and sheathed palm-trees,

55:12

وَٱلْحَبُّ ذُو ٱلْعَصْفِ وَٱلرَّيْحَانُ

MeaningHusked grain and scented herb.

55:13

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:14

خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلْصَـٰلٍ كَٱلْفَخَّارِ

MeaningHe created man of clay like the potter's,

55:15

وَخَلَقَ ٱلْجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجٍ مِّن نَّارٍ

MeaningAnd the jinn did He create of smokeless fire.

55:16

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:17

رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَغْرِبَيْنِ

MeaningLord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests!

55:18

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:19

مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ

MeaningHe hath loosed the two seas. They meet.

55:20

بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ

MeaningThere is a barrier between them. They encroach not (one upon the other).

55:21

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:22

يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا ٱللُّؤْلُؤُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ

MeaningThere cometh forth from both of them the pearl and coral-stone.

55:23

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:24

وَلَهُ ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ كَٱلْأَعْلَـٰمِ

MeaningHis are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners.

55:25

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:26

كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ

MeaningEveryone that is thereon will pass away;

55:27

وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ

MeaningThere remaineth but the Countenance of thy Lord of Might and Glory.

55:28

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:29

يَسْـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِى شَأْنٍ

MeaningAll that are in the heavens and the earth entreat Him. Every day He exerciseth (universal) power.

55:30

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:31

سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ

MeaningWe shall dispose of you, O ye two dependents (man and jinn).

55:32

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:33

يَـٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنْ أَقْطَارِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ

MeaningO company of jinn and men, if ye have power to penetrate (all) regions of the heavens and the earth, then penetrate (them)! Ye will never penetrate them save with (Our) sanction.

55:34

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:35

يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّن نَّارٍ وَنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ

MeaningThere will be sent, against you both, heat of fire and flash of brass, and ye will not escape.

55:36

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:37

فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَٱلدِّهَانِ

MeaningAnd when the heaven splitteth asunder and becometh rosy like red hide-

55:38

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? –

55:39

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُسْـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسٌ وَلَا جَآنٌّ

MeaningOn that day neither man nor jinni will be questioned of his sin.

55:40

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:41

يُعْرَفُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَـٰهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِى وَٱلْأَقْدَامِ

MeaningThe guilty will be known by their marks, and will be taken by the forelocks and the feet.

55:42

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:43

هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِى يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ

MeaningThis is hell which the guilty deny.

55:44

يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانٍ

MeaningThey go circling round between it and fierce, boiling water.

55:45

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:46

وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ

MeaningBut for him who feareth the standing before his Lord there are two gardens.

55:47

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:48

ذَوَاتَآ أَفْنَانٍ

MeaningOf spreading branches.

55:49

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:50

فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ تَجْرِيَانِ

MeaningWherein are two fountains flowing.

55:51

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:52

فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ زَوْجَانِ

MeaningWherein is every kind of fruit in pairs.

55:53

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:54

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشٍۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ ۚ وَجَنَى ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍ

MeaningReclining upon couches lined with silk brocade, the fruit of both the gardens near to hand.

55:55

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:56

فِيهِنَّ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ

MeaningTherein are those of modest gaze, whom neither man nor jinn will have touched before them.

55:57

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:58

كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلْيَاقُوتُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ

Meaning(In beauty) like the jacynth and the coral-stone.

55:59

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:60

هَلْ جَزَآءُ ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنُ

MeaningIs the reward of goodness aught save goodness?

55:61

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:62

وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ

MeaningAnd beside them are two other gardens,

55:63

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:64

مُدْهَآمَّتَانِ

MeaningDark green with foliage.

55:65

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:66

فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ

MeaningWherein are two abundant springs.

55:67

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:68

فِيهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَنَخْلٌ وَرُمَّانٌ

MeaningWherein is fruit, the date-palm and pomegranate.

55:69

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:70

فِيهِنَّ خَيْرَٰتٌ حِسَانٌ

MeaningWherein (are found) the good and beautiful companions-

55:71

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? –

55:72

حُورٌ مَّقْصُورَٰتٌ فِى ٱلْخِيَامِ

MeaningFair ones, close-guarded in pavilions –

55:73

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? –

55:74

لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ

MeaningWhom neither man nor jinn will have touched before them –

55:75

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:76

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِىٍّ حِسَانٍ

MeaningReclining on green cushions and fair carpets.

55:77

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

MeaningWhich is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

55:78

تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِى ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ

MeaningBlessed be the name of thy Lord, Mighty and glorious!
